Australian Open 2017

It’s one of the biggest events on the sporting calendar, at one of the best times of the year. The Australian Open is one of the finest displays of tennis in the world, with players flocking to Melbourne for the chance to hold the Champion’s cup and win a cut of the 50 million dollar prize money.

AO 2017

This year’s tournament has easily been one of the best. Organisers have made an effort to maximise the AO experience, with new additions to the entertainment precinct and an expansion of the grounds. The larger grounds have allowed for more free-flowing foot traffic, which is essential on hotter days where temperatures can reach upwards of 40 degrees.

After a successful run last year, the AO Festival is back! With a new entrance at Birrarung Marr, the AO festival features good music, good food and of course, good tennis. When it comes to food, you are spoilt for choice with Jimmy Grants, Huxtaburger and Tokyo Tina making an appearance. The AO Open Sessions also featured a great line up this year including Tkay Maidza, Peking Duk, The Temper Trap, and Jimmy Eat World. A great place to chill out, grab a bite to eat and enjoy some tennis on the big screen!

This year’s tournament has featured great displays from champions of the game including Roger Federer and Serena Williams, and brilliant upsets from the likes of wildcard Denis Istomin who knocked out 2016 Australian Open Champion Novak Djokovic in the second round. This year we're also being treated to an all-Williams final as sisters Serena and Venus are set to battle for the title of 2017 Australian Open Champion.

Although semi-finals are well underway, it’s not too late to grab tickets to one of Australia’s hottest sporting events.
