Yet again the Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo did not disappoint in 2017, although the weather started out overcast with patchy rain, not nearly an hour later (and in true Melbourne weather style) the sun was out in full force.
After catching the bus from Portsea up to the Point Nepean National Park where the polo is held, we disembarked and made our way into the venue along with the other attendees before first stopping in at the Peroni Marquee for a few drinks. Next up, we headed to the Alfa Romeo marquee and bumped into some of Melbourne's finest fashionistas and celebs as we made our way to the bar for a cocktail or two.
After judging the men's fashion on the field I then made my way back to the Alfa Romeo Marquee and watched the final two games of polo whilst enjoying the culinary delights that were being served alongside a handful of my close friends. What a day it was! If you didn't manage to make it down this year, be sure to keep an eye out for tickets next year to this fantastic summer event!
Now over to the fashion! When I think of Portsea, I think Nautical, when it comes to the polo, I think preppy. So naturally I combined the two when envisioning this MTM ensemble that I put together with my good friend and tailor, Carl Navè. From the get go I knew exactly what I was after. A double breasted peak lapel jacket with gold button detailing. However Carl ended up talking me into getting a notch lapel instead for something different, wise move I say! To make this nautical look as preppy as possible, I opted for crisp white chinos and Dark Brown boat shoes then paired my tie back to the shoes, jacket and contrast stitching in the lapels. As everyone knows, the devil is in the details!
