Over the weekend, the quiet coastal town of Portsea welcomed the arrival of super yachts, helicopters and Alfa Romeos’, carrying the who’s who of Melbourne (and Sydney) for the annual soiree known as the Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo.
Although the weather gods were not kind to those in attendance, the day was enjoyed, nonetheless, in spectacular fashion - in particular, those lucky enough to have scored an exclusive invite into the Alfa Romeo marquee; a supersite perched right in the heart of the polo field.
The fashion was all the vogue, as the gentlemen brought tailored, confident, casual-elegance to the field. With what was once a sit-down picnic affair, the Portsea Polo is now one of the hottest tickets on the fashion calendar, with attendees leaving nothing behind in the fashion stakes.
ur favourite looks on the day were seen in neutral, earthy tones; relaxed tailoring was key to nailing this year’s look. Most of our favourite pieces sported by the young gents on the day inherited classic Italian tailoring, with fantastic silhouettes that complimented their body and shape. We should make note that local Melbourne tailors Steve Calder (Calder Sartoria) and Hermen Menswear designed some stunning pieces seen on the day.
Linen was seen in large, and accessorising was key for piecing together some spectacular looks. With a theme of ‘Italian elegance’ subtly denoted, this was definitely executed in true Italian summer style.
Ties were left at home, and shoelaces were non existent, but what you had were confident gentlemen pulling off looks that wouldn’t have been seen 5 years prior. Commendations to all involved.
All in all, it was a great day of a gathering of like-minded individuals who are currently shining a light not only on men’s fashion, but the local fashion scene in Melbourne.
Until next year, Portsea.
